These companies have retained S & H Realty Corporation to either create retail strategies and/or to enhance their revenue and business through creative leasing programs.
Property: Jane Finch Mall, Toronto
We have a long-term relationship with this property handling the leasing strategy and transactions since 2003. Jane-Finch Mall in north Toronto is nestled in a high-density neighbourhood with over 100,000 individuals living within a one kilometer radius. It is a busy community hub accessed by transit and heavy vehicular traffic. Today, over half the stores are new or have been fully renovated. After starting with a 30% CRU vacancy rate, we reduced this to 2%.
Client: Canadian Tire
This landlord/anchor tenant retained us for the leasing of the Canadian Tire Plaza located at Leslie and Lakeshore, south-east of downtown Toronto. One of its early urban locations, the 65,000-square foot Canadian Tire store is located on the second floor, with parking underneath at ground level. Through our direct efforts, the plaza opened with 90% occupancy featuring major retailers including Shoppers Drug Mart, Rogers, Starbucks, Pearl Vision, Boston Pizza along with TD Bank and Royal Bank/RBC Insurance.
Property: 226 King Street East/1 Warren Avenue, Oshawa
This project was a 34,000-square foot greenfield development located in downtown Oshawa. Our retail strategy and leasing achieved full occupancy at the time of opening attracting both independent and regional retailers such as Shoppers Drug Mart, Pet Valu, Bulk Barn, and Pizza Nova. Our client subsequently sold the site.
Property: Build Toronto – The Shops at Wilson Station
We were selected by Build Toronto as the exclusive listing agent for a new retail development on Wilson Avenue consisting of almost 50,000 square feet of new LEED certified retail space. Through our direct efforts, the site was 92% leased within budget and timeline constraints, allowing construction to start on schedule.
Property: Avalon Mall, St. John’s, Newfoundland
We were engaged by Crombie REIT to create a retail master plan strategy including the evaluation of the expansion potential of the shopping centre, an analysis of Sears Canada’s potential longevity and re-leasing recommendations, and a full merchandising mix for both the potential expansion and the existing portions of the centre.
We also did the leasing for international retailers, bringing a significant increase in sales to the centre.
Property: 600 Hespeler Road, Cambridge
After completing new leases with national tenants such as MTY Group (Mucho Burrito), Mastermind Toys, George Richards, and Once Upon A Child, we successfully negotiated the renewal of all property tenants including National Sports (Canadian Tire), CAA, Pennington’s and Dr. Bernstein, as well as a number of local, independent retailers.
